The Agullola's legend

Do you remember the previous post? I told you about a work that the Rupit city council commissioned me. So, today I update with another part of this work.
In this case, I bring you this picture that illustrates a scene of the Agullola's legend, a history of giants, angels and devils... Chan, chan, chaaaaan!!

The giant (also the devil) of the Agullola's legend.
The Agullola is a characteristic peak of the area. Do you want to know the legend? Then, visit Rupit!

I also show you the informational panel that has been installed on the outskirts of the village (at the "Mirador del Soler", where there is a good panoramic view of Rupit and the Agullola peak). I also did the panel design.

The infomational panel designed by me.

Welcome to Rupit!

Rupit is a quaint village you can visit near Barcelona. The following sketches are part of a project that I was commissioned by the city council. Probably, the following weeks I'll publish more parts of this work (if my children give me a break... ).

The miniatures are some emblematic places of the village. From top to bottom are: the forge, the Fossar st., the suspension bridge, the waterfall of Sallent, the Santa Magdalena hermitage, and the Saint Miquel church.

Pink Dreams

A new update in this blog?!
Yes! At last I got some minutes to post something.
Actually, I had a really stressing autumn with little free time. The good part of this is that there are several projects to post here and bring the activity back to this blog.

The first project I'm going to talk about is the commission for the blog of a good (one of the best) friend. She ask me for a blog header and a logo for her start-up business.
She really is a pro artist with the royal icing. And I tried her creations and they are really yummy.
Here you have the blog header:

And next there is the logo:

You can see both images without the watermark at her blog, here.

Remember that if you are interested in commission me, you can contact me via mail (or chech the "contact" page for more options).

Thesis cover

Eo?! Anyone there?
Yep, I'm back people! I know that last year I've been really disappeared from all the artistic net. The reason is that I've been finishing my PhD Thesis. And finally I defended it on November 30st! Now you can call me Dr. Or Doc. Yeah... Doc sounds cool... (ok, no).

Well, whatever. Today I'll bring you my Thesis cover made entirely in GMT (Generic Mapping Tools), and designed in photoshop. First time I design a book cover, and I really like the result.

At the Cafe - finished -

Do you remember this? So, here you have the finished version. You can also find a better resolution image in my deviantart.

About the work: I used 2 different colouring tutorials to complete it. First one is this, about shading of human face. Second one is about colouring in photoshop.
About the character: Let me introduce you Lucía Bien, a character of a forthcoming project. Stay tuned! ;)

Weavesilk

A week ago I discovered this web while procrastinating... (sometimes I do this more than recomended... *ahem*). It is a web application that allows you to create beautiful images easily.
The aplication plays with the symmetry and the geometry to get things like these:

these are some examples of what I did
these are some examples of what I did
these are some examples of what I did
these are some examples of what I did
these are some examples of what I did

Ah! And if you are an apple-nerd, there is an app for iOS too. ^^

What's up with brown?

Brown rules because it's the color of chocolate, and coffe... and earth ^^

Sometimes I leave some posts prepared to publish, but finally don't for various reasons... In this case, I had this drawing reserved to post because I'm not sure about its quality, but in any case, I like it :P

And again, sorry for the lack of publications. Theoretically I should be writing about rocks, rifting, and stuff like these right now...

An empty city

Ups... it has been a long time since the last time... ( = 3 =)
It is an old sketch done two or three years ago. I was improving my perspective skills... and I think that the result is good enough.

La picconatrice pazza

Legend says that if you say three times "Messinian" in front of an outcrop, the Crazy Geologist appears and chases you armed with her pick.

About the picture: It's an avatar (of me) done while I was in a Italian geologic workshop. The joke about the "Messinian" is a geologic joke (don't bully me for it XD).
Messinian is a geologic stage which had often been mentioned during this course. I ended up tired to hear this word... And then, some weeks later, I started my PhD. About how has the Tyrrhenian evolved during the Messinian.
...
Now, I'm mentally insane. XD

Ah! And about the tittle: in fact "picconatrice" means "pneumátic pick" in italian (I'm pretty sure about it), and "pazza" means "crazy".

Sketching more characters...

Another fast sketch, done while I should be writing my thesis...
Anyway, he is one of the main characters of an oncoming work: Tu (my boyfriend doesn't know it... but he is inspired by him).

A girl reading

the background is a "bitmaped" screencap from the Oblivion game I found on internet

Wow!! We reached 1000 visits!! I would do something to celebrate it... but I hadn't enough time to think about it ... actually I'm working like mad into my PhD. But, in any case, a lot of thanks to be here!!

About the art: I found it in an old folder of my old computer... I tryed to paint it using comic patterns done in photoshop.

Yowling at the moon

Another old draw, from 2009, but in this case is the first time I post it online.
Maybe, in a next future, I'll color it.

A bookmark - Bokmärken

for me sounds funny, because 'gratis' means free in spanish and in catalan XD

Today is the World Book Day. That's why I bring you a bookmark.

It was a birthday gift for a good friend. We used to go together to Swedish (and German :D) classes. But this was several years ago, and now my Swedish knowledge are near to zero due to lack of practise.

But if you are interested in the text translation, it means something like: "Best wishes for your birthday".

Soup Faery

Another old draw (the signature says that is from 2008... O_o ). I was really hungry when I drew it...

Playing with the wind

I did this illustration this last Easter. My first intention was to use it as the blog background, but I finally decided to keep the actual... for the moment.

Little boy

It's a little boy painted several years ago... I think that even though the simple style, transmits joy (at least, this was my intention... ).

Photoshop practice

I've finished this half an hour ago... so, it's still ink-fresh. Yep.
I know that there's a lot of things that could be improved... but this is just a photoshop practice. And it has been a lot of time since I've used photoshop. Too much time...

Random portrait

An old sketch of a random girl. I pretended to do a self-portrait... but I failed. I'm not as sexy as she... XD

Cup design

Hey, look at this! It's a new and unreleased work!
This was my contribution to a cup design contest of an important home decor company. Finally I won anything, but it has funny to work with a circular draw: both sides of the drawing match together.
